I'm trying to do something similar but have not perfected the process of fixing AI glitches. Its a powerful tool but its having trouble understanding my crazy requests.
Building, good prompts is a challenge in itself yes. The tip i can give is try to generate an init image of what you want to achieve in one program and then edit in an other, after which you want to finetune useing in-painting / resolution scaling and / or photoshop or paintshop pro for final adjustments.
